Latoya Gilliard, 30, was stopped by state troopers July 4, 2012, and cited for driving without a seat belt. She didn pay the fine associated with the ticket or attend a scheduled State Court hearing, said Lt. Sean DeFoe, sheriff office spokesman.
Gilliard was stopped again on Oct. 16, 2012, and was arrested on a bench warrant issued after she didn show up at her prior court date. Troopers also cited her for having an improper driver license, not having proof of insurance and having suspended registration, DeFoe said.
Prosecutors dismissed the pending seat belt charge in November and she met with thenSheriff Jerry Modena. Gilliard received a warning and was told to take care of her remaining tickets or be terminated, DeFoe said.
Gilliard was ordered at a January hearing to pay a $250 fine. She received a yearlong suspended sentence and was given 60 days to pay her fine. The remaining charges against her were dismissed, he said.
As of this week, Gilliard still hadn paid her fine and another bench warrant was issued. Sheriff David Davis served the warrant on Gilliard before her shift began Thursday, DeFoe said.
