Scientists discover Gods bathtub in Australia
Australian scientists uncover a lake that has not been affected by climate changes or any man made influences. It has maintained its same water state for the past 7,500 years.
Dr. Cameron Barr and his team were at North Stradbroke to study the effects on nearby bodies of water, which are now gone, when they accidentally stumbled across a lake that was so pure you could see more than 30 feet below the surface to its bottom.
Barr published his findings on Freshwater Biology and claims it is the only lake of its kind located in Australia. To support this claim, Barrs team studied the lakes water quality, fossil pollen and algae, which team members then compared with photos taken of nearby areas on the island over the past 117 years. Barr also notes that there were once other lakes that were located around Blue Lake, but due to climate changes they have dried up.
The lakes water has remained unchanged because its waters drain into a nearby swamp and are replaced by an aquifer every 35 days or so.
Barr tells Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Because its constantly being updated it doesnt suffer from the vagaries of the climate in so far as it doesnt evaporate and become more saline. It doesnt fill up and become fresher. It just remains constant.
